About this Shipbuilder book
‘The Shipbuilder’ was originally a quarterly magazine for the Shipbuilding and Marine Industries. In 1911 they produced a Souvenir Edition of the Olympic and the Titanic – the premier White Star Liners of their day.
The edition offered for sale on this website is a complete facsimile of that special edition – with nothing taken out. It was launched on the 31st March 2009, exactly 100 years after Titanic’s keel was laid, and has the look and the feel of the original publication:
- It is meticulously scanned from the original and reproduced using the latest digital technology
- Measuring 248mm x 186mm it is perfect bound with an invisible matt laminated cover for protection
- It is printed on acid–free archival paper from sustainable resources
- There are over 218 pages, 132 advertisements from Olympic and Titanic sponsors and 126 photographs plus a colour plate of the Olympic and numerous deck plans, restaurant layouts, boiler room and engineering plans etc
